Pictured here are their results. The U13 were on top of their game, coming home as champions! Congrats to both teams, as well as a huge 'THANK YOU' to the volunteers (Coaches and convenors) who give selflessly of the time and skills to help our soccer teams get physically active, increase their knowledge & strategies, finesse their skills and develop a love for the sport!

Congratulations Soccer Champions! 2017
Wow! Three LWCC soccer teams won 2017 city championships. We’re so proud of all our athletes and how well you represent our community.
U16 Girls Soccer Champions
After finishing second in league play in 2017, the Vipers had a slow start in the playoff round, losing their first two games. The team never gave up and went on to win the next two games and finish with six points. In the end, two teams advanced to the final with two wins each. The other three teams had identical 1-2-1 records. One point separated first place from fifth. The final game was decided in extra time with the Vipers winning 3-2 to capture their second city championship in the last three years. The core of the Vipers team has made it to the city finals seven years in a row, capturing gold three times. It’s great to see the never quit attitude. Congratulations! The 2017 U16 girls team was comprised of: Alyssa Denis, Brialyn Rydman, Chiara Franz, Dana Poulton, Elizabeth Maclellan, Ella Vincent, Emily Johnson, Gillian Hyra, Hailey Baines, Haleigh Eby, Hannah Passingham, Harmony Bates, Maria Rados, Rachelle Hall, Tia Davison and Tracy Towns. A big thanks to coaches Gord Poulton, Laura Cook, Terry Davison and Todd Hyra. |
U15 Girls Soccer Champions
The U15 Linden Woods girls' team had a stellar season that concluded with a city championship win for the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association Cambrian Cup Challenge. Not only did the players win the overall championship but were also League Champions, with an impressive 16-1-1 record. While the win was exciting, best parts of this team was the respect the players had for each other, the emphasis on having fun and the love of the game. Congratulations! The 2017 U15 girls team was comprised of: Abi Popel, Abigail Rowan, Ajabi Matthews, Alea Enns, Alexys Purdie, Caitlyn Willison, Chelsey Himmelman, Chrissa Constantindes, Georgia Wilson, Hilary Robson, Karine Sandilands, Kira Olson, Lilly Caci, Linnea Kosokowsky, Logan Hiebert, Paige Robson, Sahana Kahler and Sophie Liba. A big thanks to coaches Carina McLennan, Darcy Cook, Lou Caci and Susan Robson. |
U14 Boys Soccer Champions
The U14 boys team had a fantastic year, with a 10-1-1 record during the regular season. They then went undefeated in the playoffs to beat Tyndall Park in the final by a 7-1 margin and win the A-side city championship on September 23rd. The players were young men with a passion for the game. They worked hard during the season on their skills, endurance and conditioning. They were a light-hearted bunch always willing to play wherever needed to help the team out. Most of the boys were able to play with kids they knew and played with before, but they also had the opportunity to develop new friendships. The great mix of personalities made the season and the summer a memorable one! The 2017 U14 boys team was comprised of: Aaryan Bahl, Adam Kroft, Alessandro Lomoro, Alexander Cholakis, Basem Elmatary, David Nelson, Gursimran Chakal, Jack McBride, Logan Giffiths, Mateo DeStefano, Nicolas DeStefano, Owen Fenton, Raphael Boutroy, Sam Segal, Scott Kosokowsky, Thomas Oughton, Thomas Vermette and Ty Robertson. The team was coached by Nick DeStefano, Elia Cholakis and Michael Nelson, who have all coached at the club and recreational levels and who were fortunate enough to work together again for the 2017 season. |
