SOCCER (Youth & Mini) Programs
The age group a child plays in is determined by their YEAR of birth, and not necessarily their current age.
Programs are coached and managed by volunteers. Please consider volunteering to ensure your child and others, have the opportunity to participate, learn and excel in their local soccer programs. Youth coaching courses are offered twice per year and course fees may be reimbursed by LWCC. Please refer to the soccer program you are interested in, for more specific details on dates of registration and games.

Please note the following Return to Play policies for the indoor soccer season:
- Coaches and players will be required to wear masks inside the facility until they are on the pitch area (field and technical areas). Masks being worn during training or games will be at the discretion of each player. During games, all technical officials must wear masks, except the one coach providing instructions to the players on the field.
- No spectators are permitted at adult competitions. A maximum of one guardian per youth player may attend at youth competitions. If guardians are staying at the facility, they must observe physical distancing regulations/guidelines. Any exception at youth games will be addressed by the facility staff.
- Face masks must be worn inside the facility when not on the pitch (field and technical areas). This includes for players and coaches before and after training or games and for all spectators at youth competitions (anyone over the age of 5).
- No loitering inside the facility (hallways, foyer) before or after training or games.
- No changerooms are to be used – participants should come dressed and ready to participate.
- Bathroom facilities will be sanitized before and after each booking by authorized person only. Only one person should be in the bathroom at a time.
- Games will be scheduled to consider reducing traffic between groups arriving and departing to mitigate community transmission.
- It is possible that the majority of quarter field recreational matches will be played at the WSF North with a lesser number of matches played at WSF South due to the configuration and seating capacities of each facility
- Timekeepers & Assistant Referees must wear face masks at all times.
- The facility is currently working on a mask-exemption policy for those with a doctor’s note. It is expected the person will need to register their exemption with the facility through the corresponding league. Further details on this will be communicated weeks prior to the start of the indoor season.
Youth Soccer (ages 9 - 18)
LWCC Youth Soccer Convenor: Tracey Wright at lwcc.youthsoccer@shaw.ca
LWCC's Youth Soccer program is a recreational program provided by the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) through the Winnipeg South End United Soccer Club. This program is open to boys and girls ages 9 to 18 living in Linden Woods (or Linden Ridge*). The program focuses on physical activity, building soccer skills and having fun! There is an OUTDOOR PROGRAM for the months of May/June/September and INDOOR PROGRAM for the months of October - March.
Each team has a maximum roster size as dictated by WYSA. Please register early as players are given their place by the date and time stamp on the registration form.
Teams are created in cooperation with the other community centres in the WYSA league. If we have too many players OR if we don't have enough players to make a team OR we do not have a volunteer coach for the team then players may be transferred to the next community club. Our goal is to ensure ALL kids get to play soccer.
*Linden Ridge residents may choose to register with Linden Woods Community Centre OR Whyte Ridge Community Centre. NOTE: If LWCC needs to transfer players in that age group to another centre we cannot provide a default placement back to Whyte Ridge. St. John's Ravenscourt students will register directly with their school.
Youth Indoor soccer runs from October to mid-March and is played in indoor facilities throughout Winnipeg. Girls typically play on Saturdays and boys typically play on Sundays. There may be an occasional weeknight game. Coaches will schedule one practice throughout the week.
The team rosters, schedule and game locations are typically available by October 1.
Youth Outdoor Soccer runs from late April to June, with ages 12 and older continuing in September for playoffs. In general, odd ages (9, 11, 13, 15, 17) play on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and even ages (10, 12, 14, 16, 18) play Mondays and Wednesdays. Games are sometimes played on weekends. Coaches will schedule one practice during the week. HOME games are played behind Linden Woods Community Centre. AWAY games are played on fields in various locations in South-West Winnipeg. The team rosters, schedules, and game locations are generally available by April 15.
