The Winnipeg Trails Association ...
Presents: The FREE Mobile Ski Library Join us on at LWCC February 27th from 1PM until 3:30PM Looking to try cross-country skiing but don’t own the equipment? The FREE Mobile Ski Library is bringing ski equipment to Kleysen Park, giving everyone the opportunity to try! The FREE Mobile Ski Library operates on a first-come-first-served basis with various sizes of boots, skis, and poles available. They even have ahkios, Finnish sleds that allow the skier to pull small children behind them. With our freshly groomed trail, now is the time to give this winter activity a try! If your size is taken when you arrive, we welcome you to help build a snow castle or sculpture and hopefully your size will become available. We look forward to seeing you out on the trail! Social distancing in effect. Ski rental program - check this out!! |

LINDEN LIGHTS
What a delight our community provided to light-seekers from far and wide. The holiday lights tradition was a safe and welcome distraction this year, from the Covid-19 realities. We thank those home-owners who continued the decorating traditions; that have steadily increased their arsenal of decorations; that rallied their street to start even more street themes. We had Nutcrackers, Polar Bears, Candy Canes, Reindeers, Snowmen, Santas, & Penquins.... all making an appearance. What fun we will have at the end of 2021 after seeing a couple more streets getting into the fray! The competition is heating up!
This year, the judges headed out in their own 'bubbles' instead of the shared transportation of previous years - and then, using the rubric, came to a consensus on our first two awards. We also launched a third *People's Choice* category this year, determined from voting results on our website. It seemed popular for the first year, so watch for your opportunity to vote next year.
As a result of the judging and voting....... please join LWCC in congratulating the winners:
*Best Street - Candy Cane Lane
*Best House - 125 Shorecrest Drive
*People's Choice - 178 Foxmeadow
It's a great thing to be able to share with the city and lift the spirits around the holiday season. Thanks to our community, thanks to the judges and thanks to the visitors for showing your appreciation and making it so much fun for all!
Our special events duo, Laura & Christine, were interviewed by a couple of media outlets and did a great job of reminding folks to come and take it in, but to do so in a safe & considerate fashion.
